Kangana Ranaut has signed some prized films — Kites opposite Hrithik and Raaz 2 opposite Emraan. But her first release is likely to be Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion, in which she plays a troubled model. Says Kangana, “It’s the best role I have done so far. I really enjoyed working with Madhur. Whenever I was doubtful about pulling off a scene, he would say, ‘You will do it, you will do it well. Don’t worry.’ This was his favourite line and it helped a lot.”
The name says it
Tushar Kapoor’s character in Kompany is named after his co-star in Khakee and Insaan, Akshay Kumar. It’s said that one of the songs in the film, picturised on Tushar, takes a dig at Akshay. “It’s not true,” says Tushar. “My name is Akshay Kumar in the film for a reason. You kind of associate the name with a tough guy. I play a crime reporter in the film.”
Arjun Rampal is excited about his next release Rock On, in which he plays a rock star. Director Farhan Akhtar too stars in the film. Arjun is raving about the film’s music, “It’s different from the kind we are used to. To make a rock song with Hindi lyrics and without making it sound too commercial is difficult. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy have done a great job. I am sure they are rock music fans.”
The music launch evening of Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam belonged to sizzling Mallika Sherawat, who grabbed all eye balls as soon as she came up on the stage. In the film, Mallika plays Paresh Rawal’s wife and has three lovers (Rahul Bose, Kay Kay, Zakir Hussain); and so the anchor referred to her as a man-magnet. Quipped Rahul, “You call Mallika a man-magnet. But if she is cast opposite me, then she’ll be a midget magnet.” All those present burst into laughter.
