Based on a Stephen King novel, the film stars John Cusack as horror novelist Mike Enslin, who specialises in debunking supernatural phenomena.

While researching his latest book, Enslin investigates the fabled room 1408 at New York’s Dolphin Hotel, to disprove rumours that the room is haunted. He decides to spend a night in the cursed suite, despite warnings from the hotel manager (Samuel L. Jackson).

As Enslin settles in for the night, he is forced to reassess his views as Evil envelopes the room.

Chaos

Two mismatched lawmen are on the trail of an unusually talented criminal. Quentin Conners (Jason Statham) is a veteran detective who is unhappy about being teamed up with a new rookie partner, Shane Dekker (Ryan Philippe).

However, the two are forced to put aside their differences when they are given an important case to crack. A brilliant thief (Wesley Snipes) has masterminded a series of high-stakes bank heists. But when the police learn that no money has been taken, the two cops uncover a more devious plot.

Kickin’ it Old Skool

In 1986, a freak break dancing accident lands Justin Schumacher (Jamie Kennedy) in coma. Twenty years later, he wakes up to a new world and discovers that things have changed. With the girl of his dreams (Maira Menounos) engaged to marry his high-school nemesis (Michael Rosenbaum), and his parents drowning in his debt of medical costs, Justin must rally his former break dancing squad and win back his sweetheart.

The Condemned
(STAR Movies, Tuesday, 9 p.m.)

Jack Conrad (Steve Austin) is a death-row prisoner in a corrupt Central American prison who is ‘purchased’ by a wealthy TV producer to take part in an illegal reality game show.

With no possible escape – and millions of viewers watching the uncensored violence – Conrad must use all his strength to win and earn his only chance to freedom.

Everything that farmer Graham Hess (Mel Gibson) assumed about the world changes when he discovers a message – an intricate pattern of circles and lines – carved into his crops.

As he investigates the unfolding mystery, what he finds forever alters the lives of his brother (Joaquin Phoenix) and children. Directed by M. Night Shyamalan.

Keeping the Faith
(STAR Movies, Thursday, 9 p.m.)

Priest Brian Finn (Edward Norton) and Rabbi Jacob Schram (Ben Stiller) are childhood friends. When their childhood buddy Anna Reilly (Jenna Elfman) returns to New York, they both find themselves infatuated with the now stunningly beautiful and ambitious woman.

Besides sparking a rivalry between the two friends, they are also faced with a personal problem: Brian has taken a vow of celibacy, and Jacob is allowed to marry only within his faith.
