Shruti Haasan speaks about her forthcoming release Luck
"The stunts were exciting, but involved hard work"
Shruti Haasan is not the type to sacrifice her individuality to peer pressure or popular opinion. She’s willing to go that extra mile to be different. That explains why she didn’t settle for any script that came her way, — instead waited for Soham Shah’s Luck that demanded a repertoire of emotions. In a breezy chat, the actor speaks about the film in which she co-stars with Bollywood hottie Imran Khan, and her promising music career. Excerpts:
LUCK IS An action adventure. It’s an interesting tale about human betting. There’s so much going on in this film. You’ll like it.
I PLAY An ordinary girl caught in an unexpected situation. There is a nice layer to my character.
ACTION IS About endurance. Yes, Luck was an endurance test! The stunts were exciting, but involved hard work. If you see my character graph, you’ll notice it gets tougher as the film progresses. But I enjoyed every moment of the filming.
CAMERA AND I Have finally become great friends. This is the first movie in which I play a lead role. It took a while to warm up in front of the camera. Till recently, my life revolved around the camera, but never in front of it. It took some time to shed my nervousness and feel comfortable.
RIGHT NOW I’m busy promoting Luck. As for films, I haven’t decided on any in particular. I’m just going through a number of scripts. Will sign on the dotted line only if the role interests me.
MUSIC GIVES ME A high. That’s why I’m keen on pursuing both careers — acting and music — simultaneously. Thankfully, I don’t have to pick this or that. Now, I’m all set to compose music for Unnaipol Oruvan, a remake of the critically-acclaimed Bollywood film A Wednesday. And, I’m happy to be working with my dad, who plays the lead in the film.
I GOT Unnaipol Oruvan only after auditioning and proving my skill. Talent comes before luck. Right?
