With Kai Po Che the film based on Chetan Bhagat’s “The 3 Mistakes of My Life” slated for a February release, actor Amit Sadh is excited to be doing his kind of movies. Amit Sadh entered the glamour industry riding on his Bullet, literally. From being a young naïve entrant disillusioned by reality shows (“Bigg Boss”, “Nach Baliye”, “Fear Factor”) to the confident young actor, ready to test new domainsExcerpts from an interview:

How was the Kai Po Che experience?

It was life-changing. I learnt so much and it can be called one of the best years of my life. I met so many wonderful people who are so passionate about movies and acting. That makes you enjoy the entire journey.

Funnily, I did read “The 3 Mistakes of My Life” when it was out, and being the greedy actor that I was I secretly hoped a role like this would come my way. Kai Po Che is a victory yell in Gujarati. How is it related to the title of the book as well as the movie?

‘Kai Po Che’ is the cry for ‘ kati patang ’ in Gujarat. Whenever a kite string is cut, this cry can be heard all around. So the title is a metaphor. In life there are many times when we are low and down, when we feel like a ‘kati patang’. But that is not the end. It is a delightful title to give to a movie based on “The 3 Mistakes of My Life”.

What was your experience essaying the role of Omi?

Omkar Shatri, or Omi as he is known, is the son of a priest. He is entrusted with the responsibility of distributing sweets, and apart from that he has no direction.

He has lots of energy and his friends are his guide. His friendships are tested in many situations throughout the movie. To a certain extent, I had to use my imagination to connect to the purity of his soul, and I hope that comes across in the movie.

How was your relationship with your onscreen best friends, Sushant Singh Rajput and Raj Kumar Yadav, and director Abhishek Kapoor?

They (Sushant and Raj) are two dynamic powerhouses of talent. At the end of the day, we were just like three brothers helping each other out. Abhishek knows what he wants and he knows how to push people towards it.
