Body of work

Who can forget Sunil’s shirt ripping apart on its own in the climax scene of Poola Rangadu to expose an envious six pack? That film might be history but Sunil is consistent in his fitness activity. When you visit him at a shooting spot, you are sure to find a few dumbbells lying in one corner in his green room. The actor who never forgets to mention his personal trainer Khaleel in every interview, went a step further and recommended him in a couple of films he is working in, to ensure Khaleel doesn’t get bored. The trainer now has two jobs, to tag along with the star everywhere and make him work out whenever the latter finds time and also get a decent pay for a role he plays.

Going places

Post Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum , Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu and Saarochharu, the good looking doctor Ravi Prakash has bagged two Tamil films. He is an antagonist in AL Vijay’s project that has Amala Paul and Vijay in lead roles and other is a role in Siva Karthikeyan starrer for Dhanush Productions. Ask him the most satisfying moment in YVM and he says, “I worked for Gautham Menon in Gharshana but then I was too immature and did not have a rapport with him. But for YVM, I was enjoying the work because I could understand what he was saying, expecting from me. It has been six years since I worked with him. For one scene I go to see a bride and get back home upset and have a conversation with Nani. I had to do that in three languages and the director complimented me which gave me a high. Telugu and Hindi was not a problem, but found Tamil a bit difficult.”

Dancing into cinema

Just into her Twenties, the beautiful and big eyed Mrudhula Bhaskar has made her debut in a Tamil-Telugu movie which will be releasing January end. Born and brought up in Chennai, Mrudhula lives in Bangalore where she is studying law. She is an accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer as she has been learning dance since she was three years old. “Every time I gave a performance someone or the other would ask me if I am interested in working in films, but I would never pay interest. Now that I have finally given in, I am actually enjoying it and feel it’s the right choice. I even lost 20 kg to look good, by correcting my diet. Of course my dance practice for an hour every day helped me too.” The actor plays a character named Meera and falls in love with Nakul who is totally into basketball.

Another formula film?

Post Dammu , Ram Charan’s fans observe that all Boyapati Sreenu’s films have a similar format. Though he elevates heroism, the heroes are shown as coming from a ‘class’ background. Once that introduction is over, he moves to a flashback episode that has an overdose of action and finally he comes out with a message. This remark comes in the wake of a buzz that Boyapati would be directing Charan after Yevadu and Zanjeer . “The script I have is tailor made for Charan, I can talk about it only after the release of Yevadu,” says the director. He has apparently spent a lot of time on the script and says Charan’s body language will heighten the narration. Meanwhile, the buzz about him directing Balakrishna for Ruler has faded out.
