Balakrishna, Boyapati team up again

Having worked together in Telugu hit Simha earlier, actor Nandamuri Balakrishna is set to work with director Boyapati Srinu once again. This time they are teaming up for a political drama titled Ruler .

“Balakrishna will be seen essaying a powerful role in a political film titled Ruler , which will be directed by Boyapati Srinu,” an industry source told. The film, currently in pre-production phase, is scheduled to release around the Lok Sabha election expected to be held in 2014.

“Since it’s a political film, the makers want to release it appropriately during the election time next year,” source added.

The rest of the cast and crew of the film are yet to be finalised. The film will be produced by Ram Achanta, Gopichand Achanta and Anil Sunkara under the 14 Reels Entertainment banner.

Bhansali on small screen

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, known for opulent dramas like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam , Devdas , and Black , brings the same opulence to TV with Saraswatichandra , his first production for the small screen. Replete with opulence and grandeur, the show’s promos boast Bhansali’s signature style.

Soon to be aired on Star Plus, Saraswatichandra is based on Govardhanram Madhavaram Tripathi’s Gujarati novel. In 1968 director Govind Saraiya adapted the book on the big screen with Nutan and Manish in the lead roles. The film had many hit songs including Chandan sa badan and Phool tumhe bheja hai khat mein . Set in a middle-class Gujarati family, the show is about clash of ideologies. Gautam Rode plays Saraswatichandra, while actress Jennifer Winget will be seen in the female lead role of Kumud.
