Volkswagen India is planning a two-pronged move which includes expanding its dealership network and setting up academies which would impart technical and non-technical training solutions to employees of the company’s channel partners.

Dietmar Hildebrandt, Director, Volkswagen Group, who was here to launch the region’s first such academy, said that the academy would be able to train around 1,000 people annually, and would act as the main centre for all training programmes conducted by the Volkswagen Group in the eastern region. The academy would be set up in a private degree engineering college. The company would set up 25 such training centres across the country by 2015, an official of the company said. It now has 12 training centres across India.

The Volkswagen Group, which has brands like Skoda, Audi, Volkswagen and Porshe among others, sold around 1.13 lakh units in 2012. It has two units in Maharashtra
