NEW DELHI: Tata Teleservices on Wednesday launched Photon TV, a new application that allows its ‘Photon Plus’ wireless broadband subscribers to watch live television on their personal computers. “A personal computer-based video-streaming application allows users to view live TV feed from various channels and also recorded TV shows, besides availing of videos-on-demand service. The service will be available in 22 States,” company Managing Director Anil Sardana said after introducing the industry-first product here. Mr. Sardana further said: “This innovative product underlines the technological superiority of the Photon technology, which has become the rage among Internet-users.”

On various tariff plans, he said Photon TV would be available in three different subscription options — Rs.4 a channel a month, Rs.29 a month for ‘My Combo’ bouquet of 10 channels and Rs.75 a month for all channels. Data charges would be applicable according to the subscriber’s data plan.

Tata Teleservices worked on the Photon TV product jointly with Apalya Technologies, a pioneer and leader in developing and enabling mobile video delivery platforms.
