Sony on Tuesday said it had slashed the price of its gaming device PlayStation 3 by 15 per cent to Rs.16,990 in India, in line with its global announcement.

“Following the global announcement on the PS3 price drop, Indian consumers can now own a 160 GB PS3 for a reduced price of Rs.16,990. This is a 15 per cent drop from its original Rs.19,990,” Sony PlayStation said in a statement.

The PS3 320 GB with the PS Move Starter pack bundle will now be priced at Rs.19,990, it added.

“India is an integral part of PlayStation business growth and we are happy to synchronise the price drop in India with the global price drop. It also provides an additional opportunity to really become an attractive proposition during the festive season,” Sony PlayStation Country Manager Atindriya Bose said.
