Socomec UPS India Pvt Ltd, a 100 per cent subsidiary of France-based UPS manufacturer Socomec, is planning to set up a new facility for assembling its UPS (uninterruptible power supply) systems in India.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Jerome Rodriguz, Managing Director, Socomec India, said with the increase in demand for UPS systems in India, the company decided to set up an assembly line for UPS systems.

At present the company was importing these systems from its facilities in France and Italy.

Currently, discussions are on whether the company needs to set up a separate facility or whether it can utilise the existing facility at Gurgaon for assembling. However, Socomec did not rule out the option to set up an assembly plant in Chennai. The cost to set up a new facility would be nearly Rs. 30 crore, he added.

Mr. Rodriguez also launched the two new UPS systems — Modulys Green Power and Masterys IP+ — catering to the information technology sector and to the small and medium industries.
