With Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee now busy with electioneering in West Bengal, a performance review meeting with the chiefs of public sector banks (PSBs) is likely to be convened late next month, after the release of their operating results for 2010-11.

This was disclosed by Department of Financial Services (DFS) Secretary Sashi Kant Sharma after a meeting with the heads of PSBs and financial institutions here on Tuesday. “We will have a review next month with the Finance Minister ... may be towards the end of May,'' he said. At the meeting chaired by Mr, Sharma in the absence of the Finance Minister, discussions were held on the financial performance of PSBs for the nine-month period (April-December) of the previous fiscal as well as the progress made in financial inclusion.
