Entertainment for cable dry semi-urban and rural areas
BANGALAORE: Philips Electronics India on Thursday announced the test launch of its Digital Satellite TV (DGTV), an advanced entertainment solution for true digital picture and sound for cable dry semi-urban and rural areas.
According to Rick Harwig, Chief Technology Officer, Royal Philips Electronics, the DGTV has been introduced in response to the popularity of digital broadcasting of DTH signals from Prasar Bharati. The consumers now had the only option of accessing the content from low quality Set Top Boxes (STB) from unbranded manufacturers.
Now, the DGTV will provide consumers a simple to operate yet advanced technology solution for enjoying high quality picture and sound. The innovative product solution has a STB integrated inside a 15-inche CRT monitor display where the digital satellite signal from the STB to the CRT is in the high quality VGA format.
It has external multimedia speakers with high sound output, resulting in a convergence product-TV, PC and radio. When plugged to a computer, the product functions as a PC monitor.
