New logistics initiative from Super-Max

The world's second largest manufacturer of razor blades, Super Max Group, with a 20 per cent share of the global market, is all set to launch a slew of products for men and women in India, starting with a four-blade disposable razor.

At a press conference here on Tuesday, Group CEO Ajay Bindroo said there were several products that the company was selling successfully in the U.S., Europe and some other countries that were not made available in India. “However, we feel that people here are now ready for our products,” he said of a market that accounted for 35 per cent of their sales was evolving fast. He said the capacity of the Hyderabad manufacturing plant would be augmented by 40 per cent. “About 95 per cent of our production here is exported,' he said. Its plants in Thane and Gagret (Himachal Pradesh), apart from the one in Mexico, were running to full capacity. By January next, a Rs.500-crore unit in Brazil would be up and running he said, adding that another Rs.500 crore would be spent in India itself, to take care of expansion plans.

Mr. Bindroo launched ‘WoW' (Wonder on Wheels), two dozen Super-Max branded motorcycles, with the provision to carry the company's products to retailers faster and thus increase their retail presence. He said the new logistics initiative was aimed to have a total of 2,000 motorcycles with an intent to touch a million retail points across the country.
