To participate in World Economic Forum conference

GANDHINAGAR: A 17-member Gujarat delegation, including about a dozen high profile industrialists and senior State government officials, led by the Chief Minister, Narendra Modi, left for China on Wednesday to participate in the three-day World Economic Forum (WEF) conference, better known as ‘Summer Davos,’ from Thursday. According to a State government spokesman, Mr. Modi was specially invited by the WEF President, Klaus Schwab, to participate in the conference being held at the Chinese industrial city of Dalian to present the Gujarat model of the economic development as preparations to the annual conference of the Forum to be held in Davos in January. Besides Mr. Schwab, Mr. Modi, during his stay, will have discussions with senior ministers and officials of China, Japan, Singapore, Australia and several other countries on investment opportunities in Gujarat. He and the industrialist members of the delegation would also hold one-to-one talks with the chief executives of major international companies to encourage them to invest in the State and discuss the opportunities for the Gujarat-based companies investing in other countries.
