CHENNAI: Music World, a division of Spencer’s Retail Ltd., is aiming at a growth of 25-30 per cent in sales during 2008-09.
Indicating this to The Hindu here on Friday, K. Dasaratharaman, President (Specialty Retail), Spencer’s Retail said Music World notched up sales of around Rs. 100 crore for the year ended March 2008. “Our growth has been faster than the industry,” he said.
According to S. K. Chowdhury, President (Music & Books), the industry had, in fact, seen a negative growth. “We have grown by 14 per cent,” he said.
Music World has 100 stores in 42 cities and 150 shop-in-shops across the country. Mr. Dasaratharaman said Music World would spread to newer geographical areas by adding 50 more shops in this financial year.
On Friday, it opened its 11th outlet in Tamil Nadu at Saligram. Music World, he said, had seen and grown with the change.
