First Indonesian bank branch

Bank Internasional Indonesia (BII), a subsidiary of Southeast Asia’s fourth largest bank Maybank, on Monday, formally launched its first branch in the country.

The BII branch, set up at the investment of $28 million here, is functional since July, and has a staff strength of 18.

“Our intention is to see how can we grow our business in Mumbai, and at the same time interact with regulators, including the RBI, in terms of how fast and where can we expand our services in the country,” Maybank Group President and Chief Executive Abdul Farid Alias said. — PTI
