CHENNAI: Electrotherm (India), a leader in induction technology, has launched a 40-tonne medium frequency induction melting furnace.
Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, Suneel Kulkarni, Vice President, Marketing, said the new equipment was expected to help make steel economically. The new furnace was being introduced after the success of 25 tonnes and 30 tonnes furnaces from the company. It would reduce sulphur and phosphours levels in steel and get them within the acceptable norms. It would help billet making cheaper by over Rs. 800 a tonne, he added. The company had a market share of 40 per cent across all capacity.
Mr. Kulkarni said the company had been a key player in executing turnkey projects globally. It had now started bringing this concept to the domestic market. Recently it executed a turnkey project in Central India. Four more projects had been finalised from clients in the South.
