The latest budget has laid emphasis on striking a balance between fiscal consolidation and strengthening growth.

A number of changes have been announced to boost domestic demand and create conditions for rapid revival of economy in alignment with CII recommendations, CII Director-General Chandrajit Banerjee said. The budget had called for a closer look at growth of revenue expenditure, particularly on subsidies. The budget had also addressed the current concerns over supply bottlenecks in agriculture, energy and transport sectors, particularly in coal, power, railways and civil aviation.
