CHENNAI: British Berkefeld (India) Private Ltd, a joint venture between the U.K.-based Fairey Industrial Ceramics and Sudhir S. Gupta, launched its `Cien' range of water purifiers here on Friday last. Addressing a press conference, Mr. Gupta, who is also the Managing Director of British Berkefeld, said that `Cien' water purifiers would employ a simple but comprehensive filtration process and remove all contaminants, including bacteria, without adding external agents such as chemicals. The purifiers, which did not require electricity, would retain inherent minerals and thus keep the water "alive," he said. The purifiers were equipped with `bio-silver cartridges' that had a porosity of 0.5 microns and would filter any contaminant, he added.
The cartridges, which had a life span of one-and-a-half to two years, were manufactured in the U.K. while the casing was done in Mumbai, Mr. Gupta said.
Mukesh Srivastava, Head, Marketing, British Berkefeld, said that the `Cien' range, which comprised five models, was priced between Rs. 3,000 and Rs. 10,000.
