Sets up paving blocks unit

  • Masa to provide technology

    BANGALORE: Bangalore-based Basant Betons, the ten-year-old manufacturer of paving blocks, has announced a technology partnership with Masa of Germany, manufacturer of machinery for making paving blocks.

    According to the German firm's CEO and Chairman, Dirk Bunthoff, the greenfield plant coming up close to the city will begin with a capacity of turning out 2,000 sq. m. of paving blocks per eight hour shift.

    Basant Betons Managing Director, Suresh Patil, told reporters here on Wednesday that the promoters were investing Rs. 15 crore and State Bank of India Rs. 25 crore in the new plant.

    "The paving stones market for special finish blocks is growing and we expect to reach the break-even point in about two years with a projected turnover of Rs. 100 crore, going by the market size," he said.

    Future plans included another manufacturing plant in Hyderabad, Mr. Patil said.
