NEW DELHI: Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (MSIL) on Saturday announced a ‘marginal increase’ in the price of its cars, excluding recently launched Eeco, Swift (Petrol) and Gypsy. Effective from January 16, the price increase will vary from 0.12 per cent (Ritz VDi) to 1.90 per cent (Dzire LXi).

“The price increase is to partly recover the increase in the input costs arising out of raw material costs over the past one year. For some models the increase in the costs are being absorbed by the company,” MSIL said in a statement. It also announced that the introductory prices for the refreshed Estilo, introduced in August 2009, have been withdrawn. The prices for Estilo’s variants have been increased by Rs.1,243 to Rs.2,486. MSIL also said the Swift (petrol) and Swift Dzire (petrol) will be now be equipped with the more fuel efficient, refined and environment friendly 1.2 litre K-series engine and comply with BS IV emission norms. These petrol variants will have a new improved transmission, enhancing overall power-train performance, while the new petrol engine promises fuel efficiency of 17.9 km per litre.
