Severstal matches Essar bid for Esmark

NEW YORK: Russian mining and metals giant Severstal made a competing bid for U.S. steel producer and distributor Esmark onTuesday, matching the $17 per share and assumption of debt offer by Essar Steel Holdings. Severstal said that the deal was worth a total of $1.24 billion.
