Launches Sunetra eye drops

KOCHI: Sreedhareeyam group inaugurated its new ayurvedic medicine manufacturing unit at Koothattukulam on Saturday. Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi inaugurated Sreedhareeyam Ayurvedic Medicines (P) Ltd., a subsidiary of Sreedhareeyam Eye Hospital and Research Centre at a function.

On the occasion, Sunetra eye drops, a product of the company, was also launched by Minister for Public Works Mons Joseph.

Addressing a press meet on Thursday, chairman and chief physician of Sreedhareeyam N.P.P. Namboothiri said that the eye drop formulation is a product of the research undertaken for the last several decades. Formulated with an idea of a twin benefit — everyday protection of eyes and long-term disease prevention — the eye drops suit the modern lifestyles that takes a toll on eyes, said the chief physician.

The manufacturing unit houses an international standard research and development centre and state-of-the-art quality assurance laboratory. The unit can produce 100,000 droppers a day in sterile and hygienic environment, said Hari Namboothiri, managing director, Sreedhareeyam. The company hopes to achieve a turnover of Rs.30 crore over the next year.

Sreedhareeyam had been in the field of ayurvedic treatment of eye ailments as part of the ancient family of ayurvedic physicians of Nelliakattu Mana.
