The Malkajgiri police on Sunday registered a criminal case against three reporters of Telugu TV news channels following a complaint lodged by a railway employee. The complainant, Ramakrishna Rao, owner of a flat in Sai Darshan complex in Mirjalguda, said that the reporters, Vishal, Balaji and Saibaba, came to his building on Sunday night and accused him of allowing prostitution in the building. They demanded Rs. 25,000 from him to look the other way and desist from running scrolls in their channels. Based on Mr Rao’s complaint, the police registered a case under Sections 448 (trespass) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC against the three reporters. However, Saibaba denied Rao’s charge and lodged a police complaint stating that 20 persons attacked them when they went to the building. Another case was registered following his complaint.
