The Hindu retains No.1 slot in Tiruchi

The Hindu has retained its position as the No.1 daily in Tiruchirapalli with a huge lead over competing newspapers, just-released Indian Readership Survey (IRS) figures for the second quarter of 2012 have confirmed. With a readership of 47,000, The Hindu ’s figures are far ahead of the cumulative figures of its English language competitors in the region.

The Hindu has shown a growth of 3.7 per cent in the rest of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry as well, adding over 39,000 readers over the corresponding period last year. This proves the continued preference for the daily in the region.

The Hindu has gained 1,31,000 readers. This constitutes a growth of 6.3 per cent in national readership as compared to the corresponding quarter last year. The publication’s current Average Issue Readership (AIR) is 22.08 lakh readers. The Hindu retains its position as the most-read English daily in South India and the third largest English newspaper nationally.
