The Hindu’s readership registered an impressive growth of 18.5 per cent in Bangalore in the second quarter of 2012 over the corresponding quarter in 2011, according to the latest release of the Indian Readership Survey (IRS). The readership has gone up from 54,000 to 64,000.

The growing trend prevails in the overall readership figures for Karnataka. Across the State, the readership has gone up from 1,04,000 in IRS 2011 Q2 to 109,000 in IRS 2012 Q2. This represents a growth of 4.8 per cent.

Across India, The Hindu gained 131,000 readers. This represents a growth of 6.3 per cent in national readership as compared to the corresponding quarter last year. The publication’s current Average Issue Readership (AIR) is 22.08 lakh. Once again, The Hindu retains its position as the most-read English daily in South India and the third largest English newspaper nationally.
