Ahead of the bandh on Thursday called by the Telangana Rashtra Samiti in protest against the move to carve out Rayala- Telangana as opposed to the demand for separate Telangana with ten districts and Hyderabad as capital, party president K. Chandrasekhar Rao huddled into a meeting with senior leaders to assess the situation and pass instructions to district units for the success of the bandh.

Sources said the meeting at the residence of TRS secretary-general, K. Keshava Rao was held to access leaders in New Delhi who were in the know of developments. The TRS president was credited with the view that there was a rethink in the Group of Ministers over the proposal on Rayala-Telangana after a strong backlash from Congress leaders of Telangana. The GoM might leave both the proposals – Rayala Telangana and separate Telangana – to the decision of the Union Cabinet which is scheduled to meet on Thursday.

The meeting was attended by ex-IAS officers K.V. Ramanachary, A.K. Goel and A. Ramalaxman and presidents of youth and students wings of TRS.

Meanwhile, the bandh call received spontaneous support from different parties and associations.
