TIDCO has sanctioned Rs.3 crore for the purpose3,500 acres in three villages are to be acquired
PERAMBALUR: The State Government has permitted formation of a special team of Revenue officials to acquire land for giving a fillip to infrastructure development for the proposed Special Economic Zone in the district.
A total of 252 officials and personnel from the Revenue Department, headed by the Special District Revenue Officer, will complete the process of acquisition of 3,500 acres in three villages, the Collector, Anil Meshram, said here.
Addressing presspersons on Wednesday, he said that the personnel would be divided into 12 units to facilitate expeditious acquisition. The team would comprise, among others, 12 special tahsildars and 36 revenue inspectors, he said.
The Personal Assistant to Collector (General), Nagapattinam, Narayanan, will assume charge as the Special District Revenue Officer within a couple of weeks.
Last month, the State Government sanctioned Rs.3 crore to the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) for acquiring the land in the three villages. The acquisition would be completed in four months.
The site would be developed jointly by the TIDCO and a partner to be finalised shortly.
"The basic infrastructure such as roads, drinking water, housing and power supply will be provided at the zone."
The Collector said that eight players had evinced interest.
The final choice of the partner would be made after they present a concept paper on the SEZ to the TIDCO.
