A tanker carrying 6,000 litres of aviation turbine fuel overturned on the Goa airport runway on Saturday night. The runway was immediately closed.
A Navy spokesman said the Indian Oil Corporation's tanker was heading towards the civil terminal to refuel the parked aircraft when it toppled. The spokesman said the incident left the wrecked tanker and thousands of litres of highly inflammable fuel on the runway, making it unsuitable for operations.
Naval personnel took the tanker driver to safety and took steps to prevent the fuel from catching fire. — PTI
