CHITRADURGA: Six persons died and five were injured when a vehicle in which they were travelling hit a bridge and overturned near Thammenahalli on National Highway 19 near Rampura in Molakalmuru taluk on Monday.

They were all employees of Sri Ram Chit funds in Bellary. They had gone to Mysore to attend a training camp and had also visited Dharmasthala. They were returning home when the accident occurred around 4.30 a.m. A portion of the bridge collapsed when the vehicle hit it.

The dead were identified as Gururaj (25), Narasimha (23), Ravindra (24), Dharanesh (26), Aravind More (25) and Thippeswamy (30).

The five injured were shifted to a hospital in Bellary.

Senior police officers, including the Superintendent of Police, Chitradurga district, visited the spot.

The bodies are kept at the General Hospital at Rampura.

Bellary Correspondent writes: Four women and a two-and-a-half year-old child, who were injured in the road accident, have been admitted to the Vijayanagar Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) Hospital in Bellary. Their names were given as Sharada, Mallika, Roja, Veena and Rajitesh, son of Sharada.
