MADURAI: The Inspector-General of Police (Intelligence), A. Subramanian, inspected security at the Madurai Airport on Saturday.
During a review meeting with the Controller of Airport, M. Suresh, and other officials, Mr. Subramanian advised the security personnel not to allow parking of vehicles close to the airport buildings. Setting up of a closed-circuit television network, increasing the number of security equipment and raising the height of the compound wall were also discussed.
The security personnel pointed out that lack of a road on the outer periphery of the airport was hindering patrolling exercise. The Deputy Inspector-General (Madurai Range), N. Chenbaharaman, the Superintendent of Police, T.S. Anbu, and the Assistant Commandant, Central Industrial Security Force, M. Radhakrishnan, were among those who were present. The meeting follows a threat letter received at the Tiruchi Airport recently.
