New Delhi: Amid indications by the government that it would soon take a decision on the Telangana issue, the BJP on Sunday favoured an expeditious formation of the separate State.
“We support the Telangana cause. The BJP is committed to forming the State. The government should grant it immediately,” party president Rajnath Singh told reporters after attending the BJP’s SC Morcha National Executive meeting here.

Taking a diametrically opposite line, Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav made it clear in Bangalore that his party would vote against the bill to create Telangana in the event of the UPA government making such a move in Parliament.
Mr. Yadav told presspersons that the experience of dividing Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Assam had not been good.
At one point it might lead to the division of the country itself, he warned.
