The second day's ‘rail roko' here turned violent as the police used force on the protesters who tried to force their entry into the railway station during evening hours.
About 25 persons suffered minor injuries when the police lathicharged the crowds to disperse them.
Tension at Kazipet
The situation at the Kazipet railway station was also volatile with scores of TRS and BJP workers threatening to enter the station and stage a demonstration on the tracks. In the tussle that ensued between the activists and the police, the police forcibly lifted unrelenting leaders who were squatting on the station premises outside and arrested them. The arrested persons includes BJP district president D Devender Reddy who led the protest.
On the second too the Warangal (West) MLA D.Vinay Bhasker and TRS district convener Peddi Sudarshan Reddy were kept under house arrest.
The Superintendent of Police, Rajesh Kumar, informed that 273 activists were taken into preventive custody in 12 cases, while 45 persons were booked under the Railway Protection Act in connection with two incidents.
Meanwhile, the Congress MPs spared no words in criticising the Chief Minister, N Kiran Kumar Reddy, and Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy here on Sunday.
The MPs, K. Keshava Rao, G. Vivek, G. Sukhendar Reddy, Mandha Jagannatham, P. Balaram Naik, former Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy were here to see S Rajaiah, MP, and T Rajaiah, MLA, who were arrested and lodged at the Central Jail for taking part in the ‘rail roko' on Saturday.
