Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Tuesday discussed the vexatious Telangana issue here and mulled how to ensure the smooth functioning of Parliament/ Assembly and Council during the budget session in view of protest for and against creation of Telangana. Sources said it was a one-to-one meeting at Dr. Singh’s residence that lasted nearly 20 minutes. There was no official communication about the meeting.

Before leaving for Hyderabad in the evening, Mr. Reddy also called on Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and additional in-charge of the Congress affairs in A.P. and Union Minister Vayalar Ravi.

Sources said neither the government nor the Congress would go ahead and announce the final decision of the statehood demand and would buy more time on the pretext of continuing the consultation process, and this might go on till the end of the budget session of Parliament.

Hyderabad Special Correspondent reports: Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy returned to the city on Tuesday evening after his two-day visit to New Delhi after meeting President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, AICC chief Sonia Gandhi and every Congress leader.
