Karnatak Vidyavardhak Sangha president and journalist Patil Puttappa has condemned the statehood statement of the former Minister and BJP leader Umesh Katti.
In a release, Mr. Puttappa ridiculed Mr. Katti’s sudden concern about development in the State. It was strange that Mr. Katti had now realised the seriousness of the issue, something he did not while he was Minister.
Referring to the fate of the Hiranyakeshi sugar factory at Sankeshwar, Mr. Puttappa asked Mr. Katti to introspect who was responsible for its sad state of affairs. Mr. Katti, who never took part in any movement related to the State, language, culture and development, had no moral right to speak about dividing the State citing the issue of development.
If Mr. Katti was really interested about the development of the State, let him come forward with a concrete proposal and launch a genuine struggle involving all sections of the people. The State needs no suggestions from people like Mr. Katti, Mr. Puttappa added.
