The State Election Commission has ruled that the AP Electricity Regulatory Commission’s revised power tariff from April 1 should be put on hold as the model code of conduct is in force.

Addressing a media conference here on Friday, SEC Secretary Navin Mittal said elections to Zilla Parishad and Mandal Parishad territorial constituencies would be held in two phases, provided the Supreme Court gives its approval. The SEC filed an affidavit in the SC proposing minor changes for holding elections in two phases on April 6 and 8, which will come up before the apex court on March 24.

In case the court does not approve the change in the poll schedule, elections will be held in a single phase on April 6, he said.
