A policeman was killed and four suspected Maoists were arrested after a police team had a gunfight with the militants near Matrukha village in Jharkhand’s Giridih district on Monday night.

The militants attacked the police who went to the village in search of an extremist wanted for the November 9, 2012 attack on a police van that freed some Maoists, Superintendent of Police A.V. Homkar told reporters here on Tuesday. Chhotka Marandi, one of the militants who escaped that day, was among the four arrested, he said. — PTI
