Distribution of pamphlets with objectionable content hurting religious sentiments sparked communal tension at S.R. Nagar on Wednesday.

Police resorted to lathi-charge after a group of nearly 200 youngsters, who assembled at the S.R. Nagar police station, tried to barge inside, protesting the distribution of pamphlets. Additional forces, including teams from the Task Force and A.P.S.P., were rushed to the spot. The situation was brought under control, with police contingents patrolling the communally sensitive localities in the area when reports last came in.

Intelligence wing officials said that some youngsters had collected pamphlets with objectionable religious matters and showed them to those at a prayer hall in Khairatabad in the morning. “They claimed that some persons were trying to hurt their sentiments.
