Though Perambalur municipality has fixed the deposit amount and monthly user fee for the underground drainage (UGD) system, the individual inspection chamber for buildings to be connected to the UGD should be constructed by the owners of the buildings themselves, the municipality has said.

According to a release from Collector Darez Ahmed, the works for the UGD are about to be completed. Now the discharge pipes are being connected to the UGD. For this the users should construct the inspection chamber at their own cost. This chamber should not be constructed on the municipal road or any government land. If it were to be constructed on an encroached land, it would be removed by municipal officials.

As soon as the chamber is constructed, the individual house owner should remit Rs.100 as connecting charges to the municipality and the local body would get it connected to the UGD.

For the houses and commercial establishments, the deposit should be paid in accordance with the area of the building (see table).

The press release said that no one has been specifically authorised for constructing the inspection chamber. Hence, nobody need pay any money to any one in this regard. And if anyone demands money, complaint could be lodged with the Commissioner of the municipality (9865565975).
