Sunita Narain injured in a road accident

NEW DELHI: Centre of Science and Environment director-general Sunita Narain was injured in a road accident while cycling near the All India Institute of Medical Sciences here on Sunday morning.

According to Ms. Narain’s colleague at CSE, Anumita Roychowdhury, her bicycle was hit by a speeding car in the early hours of Sunday while the noted environmentalist was going to Lodhi Garden from her house in Green Park.

“As she reached near the AIIMS flyover, a speeding car rammed her cycle from behind. Due to the impact, she fell and her face hit the ground. She began bleeding profusely from her nose. The car driver did not stop,” said Ms. Roychowdhury.

However, minutes after the accident, occupants of another car, which was passing by, spotted an injured Ms. Narain and rushed her to the AIIMS Trauma Centre where she is reported to be out of danger.
