Since terrorism poses a serious threat to the federal system of the country, both the Central and State governments should jointly fight it, instead of politicising the issue, Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi has said.

Addressing mediapersons here on Sunday, Mr. Ravi said that the Union government had no intention of hijacking the powers and rights of State governments by setting up the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC). On the opposition to NCTC from seven Chief Ministers, Mr. Ravi said the Centre was not insistent on setting up the agency on its own.
