Those who sought to project him as secular should realise their folly: LJP
NEW DELHI: The Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Lok Jan Shakti Party on Sunday accused Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of betraying the people by sharing the dais with his Gujarat counterpart Narendra Modi at an NDA rally in Ludhiana.
Union Minister for Rural Development and RJD vice-president Raghuvansh Prasad Singh said Mr. Kumar had before and during the elections spoken against Mr. Modi to make himself look secular. Once the elections were over he showed his true colours. “Whatever Mr. Kumar has said was false, with the sole motive of misleading the people,” he said.
LJP secretary-general Abdul Khaliq said by his conduct the Bihar Chief Minister had exposed his real face.
He expressed the hope that those who sought to project him as secular and sought to form the next government with his support would do well to realise their folly and understand Mr. Kumar’s real intentions.
The LJP leader said Mr. Kumar had not only kept Mr. Modi out of Bihar but had also refrained from using posters of the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, L.K. Advani.
Mr. Khaliq wondered how any political party could expect Mr. Kumar to support it when he could ill-afford to antagonise the BJP whose support he desperately needed to be in power.
