Say open space was earmarked for parking, children's play area
CHENNAI: Residents of an apartment complex in Villivakkam have protested against a Tamil Nadu Housing Board move to build a new block on the open land in the complex.
Residents of Anandam flats on Sidco Nagar main road said the complex with 152 High Income Group (HIG) flats was developed three years ago, and the Board had promised them that the open space could be used as a parking lot and children's play area. But it was now planning 24 flats there, they said.
The residents' welfare association went to the Madras High Court in December last to get property documents from the Board.
However, the documents they received did not specify the use of the open space.
The association members now contend that the Board had violated the rules.
A senior TNHB official denied the charges, saying the land was not assigned to the residents.
The open space used by the residents belonged to the Board.
