‘Srirama Rajyam’ adjudged best film ; Nagarjuna gets special jury award

Mahesh Babu and Nayanatara have bagged the best leading actor and best leading actress Nandi awards for 2011 for their portrayal in films ‘Dookudu’ and ‘Srirama Rajyam’ respectively while Nagarjuna has been chosen for the special jury award for his role in Rajanna. Among female actors, the special jury award is given to Charmi (Mangala). Srirama Rajaym, a multi-crore mythological extravaganza made using state-of-art technology for special visual effects, starring Balakrishna and Nayanatara in the lead roles which is directed by Bapu, has been adjudged the best film. The second and third best awards have gone to Rajanna and Virodhi (starring Srikanth) for the year.

A plethora of five other best awards are secured by Srirama Rajyam -- cinematographer (P. R. K. Raju), music director (Ilayaraja), choreographer (Sreenu) and make-up (P. Rambabu). Dookudu has won the best popular wholesome entertainment film award. Interestingly, the best villain award has been given to a female artiste Manchu Lakshmi for her character in Anaganaga Oka Dhueerudu.

Gaddar best singer

In yet another surprise, revolutionary balladeer Gaddar is awarded the year’s best male playback singer award for his song “podusthunna poddumeeda..” in film Jai Bolo Telangana. Jai Bolo Telangana, a touching movie on Telangana agitations, is adjudged the best film on regional integration (as citation says) promoting national integration, communal harmony and uplift of the depressed.

Information Minister D. K. Aruna, announced 64 Nandi awards at a media conference here on Saturday.
