‘They do not have requisite students, proper infrastructure’

Karnataka University has cancelled the affiliation of three Government First Grade BBA Colleges in Haveri and Uttara Kannada districts.

The university’s Academic Council meeting held here on Friday decided to cancel the affiliations of Government First Grade BBA Colleges in Akki Alur and Tiluvalli in Haveri district and Government First Grade BBA College of Manki in Uttara Kannada district.

Vice Chancellor H.B. Walikar, who chaired the meeting, said the Local Inspection Committee (LIC) sent by the university recommended the cancellation because of lack of sufficient number of new admissions and proper infrastructure. However, the government had instructed the university to renew affiliation if the colleges get enough number of admissions. Accordingly, the university would restore the affiliation in case these colleges meet the requirements, he said.

The meeting has also refused permission for the proposed DHK Arts College in Gadag. The LIC in its report said the college did not have the minimum requirement to start functioning, he said.
