Justice Ontethupalli Chinnappa Reddy, a distinguished retired judge of the Supreme Court, died of ill-health caused by old age in his Jubilee Hills residence here on Saturday. He was 90. He is survived by a son and two daughters. He is admired for his many pro-active judgments.
He was the youngest of the legendary-quartet of Supreme Court judges along with Justices V.R. Krishna Iyer, P.N. Bhagwati and D.A. Desai, who changed the course of India’s judicial and political history by seeking to radically transform the court. Born on September 25, 1922, at Jambuladinne village in Kurnool district, Justice Reddy completed his early education in London Mission High School at Gooty and higher education from Loyola College and Law College at Madras.
