The State government has recommended that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquire into the sensational murder of RSS activist K.T. Jayakrishnan in Kannur in 1999.

The decision comes in the wake of the State police’s decision to reinvestigate the murder case on the basis of the confessional statement of T.K. Rajesh, one of the main accused in the murder of Revolutionary Marxist Party leader T.P. Chandrasekharan. Home Department officials said the government felt that the CBI, being a national agency known for its independence, best investigate the case to pre-empt allegations of political witch-hunting.
