Hu Jintao to visit India in November

NEW DELHI: Chinese Ambassador to India Sun Yuxi on Wednesday said that President Hu Jintao was expected to visit India in November. The two Governments would announce the dates for the visit in due course.

Speaking to presspersons informally on the occasion of the release of a book, My Life with Kotnis (on the life of Dr. D.S. Kotnis), Mr. Sun said India and China were engaged in discussions to expand the list of items that could be traded through the Nathu La Pass. The two Governments were working to improve facilities for trade through the Pass. They wanted to widen the road on either side of the Pass to make transportation easier.

In his speech at the book release, jointly conducted by the Ambassador and the former Prime Minister, I.K. Gujral, he said Guo Qinglan (co-author of the book), wife of Dr. Kotnis, spoke about her first encounter with Dr. Kotnis, her marriage, the birth of their child and his sad demise.

"The release of the English version of My Life With Dr. Kotnis is one of the significant activities of the 2006 India-China Friendship Year. I sincerely believe that this book will help us remember the precious fraternity shared by our peoples during times of difficulties... "
