Seven bags of ganja, weighing 280 kg, were seized during a surprise raid on a farm owned by a government higher secondary school physical education teacher at Kottaiyur Chinnayampatti village near Natham on Tuesday. The value of the ganja was around Rs.30 lakh, police said.

The police arrested Selvam (45), car driver of the physical education teacher, and are on the lookout for A.Srini, physical education teacher at Government Higher Secondary School at Aravankurichi, his wife S.Sukumari and her sister Vasuki.

Acting on information from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), the police searched the farm house and found ganja under a water tank.

The narcotic substance had been brought from Andhra Pradesh.

Talking to press persons, NCB DIG Prem Anand Sinha said the accused had been smuggling ganja from Andhra and Orissa border.
