BELLARY: Farmers of Chaganur and Siriwar villages in Bellary taluk, who are opposing the State Government’s move to acquire 1,200 acres of land for construction of an airport in Bellary, launched a legal battle on Thursday.

A case was filed by six persons before the Vacation Civil Judge against G. Janardhan Reddy, Minister for Tourism, B. Sriramulu, Minister for Health and G. Karunakar Reddy, Revenue Minister (in their individual capacity). The State, represented by Deputy Commissioner of Bellary, and the Special Land Acquisition Officer of KIADB have been made the fourth and fifth defendants.
